Integrating Systems: Implication for Functional Divisions of Organizations

Running a business is not an easy task. Especially considering the numerous logs and cross-checks required for a particular product or business item. With the inception of digitization techniques, businesses are focusing more and more to bring and integrate technological advantages. Digitization has essentially made various business tasks a lot easier as well as brought a notable efficiency and fast pace to business models.

However, the business paradigm is not limited to one functional group or division. Several functional groups work together seamlessly to achieve business goals. As a result, the application of digitization techniques is not limited to IT departments only. Rather the techniques are implemented across multiple platforms.

One of the digitized techniques widely practiced is that of functional integration. The concept of integration is somewhat similar to that of traditional understanding regarding this matter. Businesses and organizations are implementing various forms of integration to not only bring efficiency but to ensure effective data analysis and decision making. Integration brings automation to various analog processes within the organization and helps businesses to effectively design and manage strategic goals and objectives.

With the growing share of internet users across the globe, businesses and organizations are experiencing a global internet dividend. It is a form of benefit that many organizations are failing to take advantage of due to the lack of automation and service integration to digitally transform various services and processes of the organization. This is where mulesoft is aiming to change the market strategy. Mulesoft aims at providing API based integration for various platforms within a business. This is done to bring streamline in the business process and increase coherence among departments without the hassle of manual comparison and data cross-check.

You might be thinking, what is the use of the internet or need of integration other than the IT department. To answer that, we need to understand the implication of functional groups within an organization. Every organization has several functional groups viz. finance, marketing, human resource, and operations. To understand why integration is required among these divisions, we need to understand how they are interrelated to other processes of the organization.

Marketing

The ultimate goal of every organization or business venture is to have a strong sales figure. The sales can be of either service or products. Regardless of its nature, businesses push to increase sales. And to realize this goal, almost every organization has a marketing division.

Marketing strategy or action plans are developed based on several factors that include market position, customer retention, previous sales record and production capability of the organization. To devise a strategic goal, an organization needs to consider all these factors. An API based integration process would streamline all these factors into one single perspective. We know API based integration helps to directly analyze the outcomes or implications of each micro strategy. As a result, market decisions can be backed by reliable data and accurate interpretations.

Human Resource

HR or Human Resource is another integral part of any organization. This strategic department is responsible to overlook the performance, welfare and overall issues related to employees and executives of any organization. The efficiency of the HR department has direct implications to the organizational performance and output. HR objectives can be made more effective through the integration of various strategies to ensure employee efficiency. Digitizing the HR process would help to better address the employee growth, better strategies would imply higher employee retention and effective organizational growth.

Operations

Operations division is another integral part of any organization that deals with the day to day activities of any organization. Organizational processes and activities come under the framework of operations division. As a result, the operations division can be essentially called the life force of any business

Every organization or business works with a strategic goal in place. This strategic goal is divided into several sub-tasks and from there to operational tasks. Integration strategy can be used to monitor the correlation of one operation with another. This would help to better visualize the entire work progress and measure it against the final strategic goal of the organization.

Mulesoft uses several integration strategies based on API to address and monitor operations. Almost 84% of the integrated systems showed positive outcomes which indicate integration has a direct correlation with operational efficiency.

Finance

The finance division deals with the overall expenditure and profit gains of any organization. This division is both sensitive and systematic due to its requirement of high accuracy and very low margin of error. Operational and strategic costs combined with other heads of expenditure of the department are of primary concern of the finance division. The department also needs to confer cost-benefit analysis to determine the profitability of any venture or of the overall business. Having an integrated system in finance would help to keep track and compare expense heads with earning heads. An integrated system simply makes the entire process more efficient and error-free.

As we understand now, the implication or necessity of an integrated system is not limited to the IT department alone. Rather an integrated system for every functional front would simply drive up the organizational proficiency and output. Mulesoft and its integrated systems can be an ideal solution in this regard as they are an industry leader in designing and applying various integration systems across organization and business platforms.
